Cumpà wasn't born from one more catalogue. It was born from a dumb question, asked every day: what do I do, right now, with the body I have today?

In Corsican, a cumpà is a companion, a godfather. Someone who walks beside you. It doesn't give orders, doesn't grade you, doesn't compare you to anyone. It looks in the same direction as you, and says what it would do today. It's pronounced “coom-pa”.
Who marks the trail.
I've been a television director for fifteen years, at ViaStella, in Corsica. My job is to put other people's lives on screen, and to decide what we keep. In the evening, the one question I could never settle was my own: “what do I do today?”
Cumpà was born from that. Not from one more catalogue. From a companion that answers that question every time you ask it, at the time you ask it, and would rather put you on rest than watch you force it.

Two marks on a rock.
The GR20 crosses Corsica end to end and is reckoned one of the most demanding trails in Europe. There are no signs on it, and no instructions. Two strokes of paint on a stone, put exactly where you hesitate. They don't describe the mountain. They say: this way.
Ours are white and cyan rather than white and red, because the GR20 isn't the walk you are on. Yours is the way back to moving, one day at a time. You will find the waymark on every page of this site, and in the app at the moment of deciding.
- A waymark doesn't describe the trail, it points at it. Cumpà doesn't open a catalogue: it names a session.
- A waymark doesn't judge whoever walks past. A rest day is a decision, not a failure.
- A waymark earns its place where you hesitate. That is exactly the moment Cumpà takes on: the one where you don't know what to do.
